The Beta Club participated in a leadership summit this last week and came home with 4 more awards. Students won a general leadership award. A Project Proposal award was won by Allison Droke, Carly Coble, Madelyn Dabbs, Jaci Walters, and Brynlee Blankenship. The Collaboration Connection award was won by Benjamin Clouser, Elliot Vaughan, Jaci Walters, Harlan Mollett, and Colton Simmons. The Lead Outside the Box award was won by Rylee Hood, Lily Pastorious, Benjamin Clouser, and Elliott Vaughan. Some of the qualified Beta students will be attending the National Convention in Savannah, GA this summer. We are so proud of the beta club this year and all of their accomplishments!

If you are attending the high school girls basketball game tonight and will be absent tomorrow please check in at the game with Coach Carpenter, so your absence will be excused.
Cheer tryouts will be on March 22nd for next school year. There will be a Cheer clinic on March 19th, 20th, and 21st. Tryouts are open for 5th-7th grade students. Students must have a current physical at the school. Students are highly encouraged to attend the clinic prior to tryouts.
As a part of their Career Awareness class, 8th grade students from SGCMS, visited TCAT Jackson to learn about post-secondary career options utilizing the TN Promise scholarship. Students toured the following career paths: Automotive Technology, Collision Repair, CAD Design, Computer Information Technology, Electrician Apprenticeship, HVAC/R, Industrial Maintenance, Practical Nursing, Truck Driving, and Welding.
Strawberry delivery came in early. You can now start picking up in the back of the middle school. Will be here until 5:00 PM.
Sixth graders in Career Exploration were visited by Mr. Brad Christopher. He is a paramedic with Gibson County and the father of 6th grade student, Camryn Christopher. He spoke to students about his exciting career in health care. We are thankful for all of the parents who are taking time to talk to our students about their various careers.
Strawberry Fundraiser - If you participated in the booster club's strawberry sale you can pick those up tomorrow (Thursday, 4/7) from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM in the back parking lot at the middle school.
Tonight is the end of our school wide fundraising campaign through Power of Purpose. We are just short of our goal and you can still give through midnight tonight if you would like to participate.
On Friday (2/23) in 7th grade Career Exploration, students had the opportunity to learn about careers in health science and other support staff careers in healthcare. Students were visited by the CEO of Milan WTH Hospital, Ms. Sherry Scruggs; the CNO of Milan WTH, Ms. Lori Wood, and the Regional Human Resource Business Partner, Ms. Tammie Bell.
SGCMS 7th grade students are learning to be leaders by practicing the leadership skills of “collaboration” and “communication” as they lift a “helium stick” and build a tower out of spaghetti noodles, tape, string, and a marshmallow. Some of the winners of the challenger are pictured with their tower.
Congrats to the SGCMS Baseball team, who won the Obion County Pre-Season Tournament, going 3-0 over the weekend.

Students in Career Advising at SGCMS were visited by Ms. Stephanie Mitchell with West Tennessee Healthcare. Ms. Mitchell is a Radiology Clinical Preceptor/Educational Coordinator and she spoke to students about careers in Radiology, Ultrasound, CT/MRI, and Nuclear Medicine. Ms. Mitchell spoke about the program at Jackson State Community College in Radiologic Technology and then other career path options in this field.
SGCMS would like to congratulate Maya Manerikar, who was selected as the Tennessee Middle School Student of the Year by the Tennessee Association for the Gifted.
The bloodmobile will be at the middle school today for the South Gibson County Middle School blood drive. If you would like to give it will be in front of the school from 12:30 to 5:30 this afternoon.

We are starting an afterschool Drone Team for 6th grade students. All practices will be held afterschool and your student will need to be picked up at a designated time.
